Interpret with Intention provides access to, and increases engagement in, sense-making when students encounter something for the first time (e.g., a math representation, a worked example, a classmate’s solution strategy). Students ask themselves a question to focus their interpretations, then share and discuss their interpretations with a partner using a sentence frame.
